The EVoVH Platform, the aim of which is to make heritage more visible in Europe, presented its goals and programme of activities at the 20th Restauro fair at the end of March in the city of Ferrara, Italy. This heritage cluster is made up of companies and public bodies seeking to give greater weight to heritage and culture by measuring and raising awareness about their impact on economic activity and social development.

Restauro is one of the most important fairs devoted to cultural heritage in Europe, and is linked with the AR&PA Biennial in Valladolid, which held its eighth edition in May 2012. Enrique Sáiz, the director of Heritage at the Junta de Castilla y León regional government, attended the presentation by the Platform, one of the objectives of which is to engage European stakeholders in the heritage value chain by compiling experiences, best practices and relevant data to help develop synergies and encourage the exchange of ideas in this field.

The EVoCH Platform comprises the Junta de Castilla y León, the European Association of Heritage Restoration Companies, The Portuguese Secretariat of State for Culture, the Caja Madrid Foundation, the Basque Country’s Tecnalia Foundation, the Santa María la Real Foundation, the Cartif Foundation and the regional government of the Autonomous Region of Madrid. At its meeting in February at the Licenciado Butrón palace in Valladolid, the Platform’s “road map” was agreed and the permanent secretariat was established.

New members

Since the establishment of the permanent secretariat in February, several ordinary members have joined the Platform, including the Italian universities of Pavia, Modena and Ferrara.
