Also in October, EVoCH Seminar in Porto, Portugal: Cultural Heritage, Economy, Employment

The Direção Regional de Cultura do Norte, Promoter member of the EVoCH Platform, will hold on the 17th, 18th and 19th October the first International Seminar on Cultural Heritage, Economy, Employment. This initiative forms part of a strategy that has been developed over the recent years and it is based on some essential components:

  1. The relief of Cultural Heritage in its multifaceted aspects, in the region and in the country, as value of major importance in economic activity and job creation, particularly through tourism.
  2. The importance of existing cultural facilities, cultural management and the economic value of culture and creative industries, as evidenced by several initiatives and studies recently produced.
  3. Awareness of the need to implement in cultural facilities (museums, monuments, archaeological sites, etc.) management models more suited to the present reality, resulting in the development of new products and services as well as more active practices in seeking alternative revenues.
  4. The involvement of the public entities, in recent years, in projects related to cultural entrepreneurship and employment as well as participation in international platforms related to creative territories and economic enhancement of cultural heritage

We intend, through this initiative, to adress the issue of cultural management and its impact on the generation of economic activity and employment in the current economic context, where we believe it’s essential: networking and other collaborative platforms, rationalize human, technical and financial resources, the use of appropriate marketing techniques and communication, training of human resources and the need to generate alternative sources of funding.
