Since it was set up in April 2012, the EVoCH Platform has attracted over 50 members from 15 countries, including Italy.

Bodies such as the Assorestauro Association, the Fitzcarraldo Foundation, the Alternativa Arte Foundation, the universities of Pavia, Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Teknehub university of Ferrara, the ITS BACT Foundation and the company Merlino Progetti, have all become EVoCH members.

The Junta de Castilla y León (regional government), a founder member of the Platform, wanted to organise a working day with the Italian members during the RESTAURO Fair in Ferrara, one of Europe’s leading heritage fairs along with AR&PA, in Valladolid. The aim of the event is to allow members of the Platform to share their experiences by presenting and discussing success stories and good practices, encouraging cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the members.

As well as sharing experiences in Europe, the Platform’s objectives also include gathering information and data that demonstrate the economic value of cultural heritage. It will therefore include the information and conclusions of the working day in Italy into its virtual database ( www.jcyl.es/evoch ) in order to conduct later studies. This database has a “public area” and another “private” one, which can only be accessed by full members of the Platform who agree to their information being exchanged in order for later studies to be conducted.

The Italian Ministry of Culture will be represented by Manuel Roberto Guido, of the Directorate General for the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage. Representatives from other founder members of the Platform such as the Junta de Castilla y León and the Santa María la Real Foundation will also attend. Nearly all the Italian members, meanwhile, have already confirmed that they will be attending.
