AR&PA International Congress, AR&PA Business, AR&PA Institutions, AR&PA Employment, AR&PA Initiatives and AR&PA Innovation will be hosting more than 150 technical papers at their facilities. What’s more, AR&PA Family and Open for AR&PA will be organising over a hundred educational activities.

A packed programme that makes AR&PA a key event for the Cultural Heritage sector and society in general.

Workshops, technical presentations and a host of activities. The AR&PA programme of events gives a clear idea of the vast number and excellent standard of the activities organised for this latest edition of the Biennial, and includes all the Technical Presentations by exhibitors at AR&PA Business, AR&PA Institutions, AR&PA Employment and AR&PA Innovation. This is an excellent opportunity for businesses and institutions to promote their projects.

The programme also lists the presentations included under AR&PA Initiatives. The Technical Workshops, which include the ARESPA-CSIC seminar entitled ‘Science, Technology and Business’ and the innovation seminar ‘New Business Models for the Conservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage’. AR&PA Business will also be offering its employment Workshops, organised by various institutions such as the National Heritage Workshop Schools and the Cal de Morón Nature Museums.

There will also be space for activities that reflect live art such as the series of mini-concerts entitled ‘Singing Stones’, organised by Castilla y León’s Historical Heritage Foundation, bell-ringing at the Cathedral in Ciudad Rodrigo, sponsored by Bankia, or the rapid drawing competition which is open to participants of all ages.

AR&PA FAMILY. The programme of events targets schools and families with children aged between 3 and 12. Make sure you bring the family along to get your very own ‘Heritage Passport’.

This initiative aims to enhance the appeal of Cultural Heritage, thereby contributing to raising awareness amongst the younger sectors of society and encouraging the general public of all ages to visit and take part in the AR&PA Biennial.

You’ll find more than 15 activity points at the fair, where children will have fun spending ‘a day in the Abbey’, making clay models, designing traditional masks, mixing whitewash or discovering the fascinating background to our castles and fortresses. At this latest edition, families will once again have the opportunity to take part in the National Heritage workshops and create stained glass windows as part of Leon Cathedral’s cultural project entitled ‘The Dream of Light’.

In addition, since the last edition held in 2010, further progress has been made with the OPEN FOR AR&PA programme, in which the entire city and region welcomes AR&PA. The museums of Valladolid, together with the autonomous community’s entire network of major museums, offer free admission for the duration of the Biennial for all those visitors that show their AR&PA admission ticket or invitation. What’s more, museums such as the Museum of Human Evolution, the Museum of Mining and Metallurgy, the Ethnography Museum, the Patio Herreriano Museum and the National Sculpture Museum will all play a key role at the event, showcasing their exhibitions and educational activities.
