The 7th AR&PA Biennial will open its doors on 11 November, with an increase exhibitor numbers from the last edition and a packed agenda of Cultural Heritage activities
The President of the Junta de Castilla y León, Juan Vicente Herrera, will open AR&PA 2010, the 7h Biennial of Heritage Restoration and Management, at 12pm on 11 November.
The Biennial, supported by UNESCO, consists of the programmes: AR&PA Fair, AR&PA International Conference, AR&PA Technical Workshops, AR&PA Awards, AR&PA with the Family, AR&PA for Everyone, AR&PA Initiatives and the programme AR&PA Innovation, which will be launched this year, with the support of the European Commission and the Tecnalia technology centre.
AR&PA will include more than 110 stands, bringing together more than 280 exhibitors in the Seventh Biennial of Heritage Restoration and Management.
Participants include: nine Autonomous Regions: Madrid, Valencia, Extremadura, the Region of Murcia, Castilla y León, the Autonomous City of Ceuta, the Autonomous City of Melilla, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha. The most important Heritage Institutes will also be taking part: IAPH (Andalusia), IPCE (Ministry of Culture), the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (Belgium), the Valencian Institute for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, and the Restoration Centres from the Region of Murcia and Castilla y León. Several organizations, entities, foundations and associations, including international ones, will also be attending, including the Regional Directorate of Culture of the North of Portugal, Icomos from Mexico, the Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Association of Historical Heritage Restoration Companies, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Edades del Hombre Foundation, the Historical Heritage Foundation from Castilla y León. Romanesque heritage projects will be represented by the Santa María La Real Foundation, the Duques de Soria Foundation, the Romanesque Zamora cultural project, the Route of the Romanesque of the Sousa Valley in Portugal and Transromanica, the Association of Romanesque Routes of European Heritage.
Institutions attending AR&PA will include the Caja España de Inversiones, Salamanca y Soria Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad Savings Bank, the National Heritage Workshop Schools, the Royal Tapestry Factory and the Provincial Government of Valladolid, which will also be having a stand aside from its workshops.
Several companies from the field will also be participating in AR&PA 2010: FTB (restoration materials), Acítores (organs), Mader (wood treatment), Olnasa (masonry), Tot Restauro (restoration), Afronsa, exhibiting its overhead platforms, Encaja (packaging), Girpavstone (stone paving), Ilusa Media with its innovation projects, Lasserscan (3D Scanners), MPA (abrasives and applications), Metria (digital photogrammetry), Promatic (restoration machinery), Sercam (cultural services), Topocal (topographic works), Visor (audiovisual services), Vitrea (stained glass windows), etc.
Several publishing companies will be also participating, such as El Norte de Castilla, which publishes works on the Cultural Heritage of Castilla y León, Cálamo Arte y Bibliofilia, Siloé Arte y Bibliofilia and M. Moleiro – The art of perfection.
